WEDDINGS AT ST. ANN'S CHURCH

The service, "The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage" in the Book of Common Prayer (1979), is the liturgical form used for weddings at St. Ann's. The canon law of the church requires that at least one of the couple be a baptized Christian, and that both shall receive instruction from the priest about the nature of Holy Matrimony.

St. Ann's clergy will, under normal circumstances, officiate. Clergy of other dioceses may request to officiate here by contacting the Church Office. Clergy of other denominations may assist the Episcopal Priest at a wedding.

Weddings are not scheduled for Sundays, during Holy Week, or in much of December.

Wedding rehearsals are normally held in the early evening the day prior to the wedding. All members of the wedding party are encouraged to be at the rehearsal. It is customary at St. Ann's for the bride-to-be to participate in her own rehearsal.

The Priest is available for consultation well before the wedding regarding flowers, photographs, and overall logistics. The Priest will also ask for the wedding license. Please contact the Church Office least one month before a proposed wedding. If you have employed a consultant to assist you with other aspects of your wedding, please advise him or her that the Presiding Priest oversees all the facets of the rehearsal and the wedding service.

Floral planning may be made with the florist of your choice. St. Ann's does not permit the use of artificial plants on the Altar. No rice is permitted on the grounds.

Photography must be discussed with the officiating priest in advance, so you can instruct your photographer on guidelines and restrictions to insure reverent decorum during the ceremony.
