MINISTRIES


St. Ann's offers many opportunities for its parishioners to participate on a variety of levels.

Listed below are the committees and ministries of St. Ann's along with a brief description.

Acolytes
Assist in the Liturgy of the Word by performing the functions of torch bearer, server, thurifer, and crucifer.

Altar Guild
Works quietly and behind the scenes caring for the linens, silver, and brass pieces used on the altar, filling candles, updating the hymn board, cleaning the area behind the communion rail weekly and decorating the church for special occasions.

Building and Grounds Committee
Responsible for the care and feeding of the church property, it meets once every three months to discuss various maintenance and beautification projects and how they will be accomplished.

Chalice Bearers
Assist in the distribution of the wine during Communion.

Choir
Joyfully sing God's praises at each 10:00 a.m. Eucharist and at special church services. The Choir sings a wide range of music from ancient to contemporary.

Christian Education Committee
Comprised of Sunday school teachers, the Director of Christian Education and the Rector. This group meets once a month to discuss various curricula.

Coffee Hour
Provides refreshments after each Sunday Mass.

Counters
Count and then record the receipts from the Sunday or holiday masses.

Episcopal Youth Organization
Is the organization for the youth of the parish ranging in age from junior high to senior in high school.

Facilities & Finance Committee
Oversees the general business operation of the church.

Finance Sub-Committee
Was created for the purpose of exploring different avenues available to the church from a financial perspective. Other tasks include assisting the Rector, Vestry and Parish Administrator in preparation of the operating budget for the upcoming year.

Lay Readers
Read the Old and New Testament and lead the Prayers of the People during the Liturgy.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Assist the priest during the Liturgy on Sundays and special occasions. They may also lead in non-Eucharistic services such as Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, or Stations of the Cross.

Liturgy Committee
Works in partnership with the Rector to determine appropriate liturgical changes and assists in planning worship.

Lobster Fest
The church's largest fundraiser now in its 21st year! It is always held on the first Saturday of October. The entire parish participates. A portion of the funds raised are donated back to the community.

Meals on Wheels
Delivering meals to the homebound in conjunction with Centegra Health Systems.

Ministry to the Homebound
Conducts visits and distributes Communion to the homebound, sick and elderly of the parish.

Monthly Newsletter
Responsible for the writing, editing and publishing of Saint Ann's Life monthly newsletter.

Needlepoint Guild
Responsible for creating and maintaining the beautiful kneelers that adorn the Communion rail.

New Member Hospitality Committee
Created to advance the integration of new members into the community of Saint Ann's.

Outreach Committee
Focuses on the outreach programs of Saint Ann's for the benefit of disadvantaged families in the Woodstock community.

Parish Life
Provides meals for those families who are experiencing major life changes and coordinates special receptions such as the visitation of the Bishop.

Stewardship Committee
Identifies the needs of the parish and matches them with the time, talent and treasure of the parishioners.

Ushers
Responsible for greeting everyone as they arrive for the Liturgy and assisting anyone who may require help with seating or use of our hearing devices.

Vestry
Governing body that makes the necessary decisions affecting the temporal affairs of the church.

WACM
Woodstock Area Christian Ministries is an ecumenical group that pools funds and manpower for the purpose of assisting families and members of the Woodstock community who are in immediate, short-term need.

Young Episcopal Seniors (YES)
This group of church seniors meets monthly for prayer, fellowship and fun.
